Terms & Conditions
Last Updated: 14 April 2025
These terms set out the basis on which Mali Legal provides legal services and the way in which this website may be used. Please read them carefully. By engaging our services or making use of this website, you are accepting the terms described below. If you have any questions before proceeding, we are glad to discuss them with you.
1. About Mali Legal
Mali Legal is a family law practice registered in Thailand, with offices at 234/8 Petchkasem Road, Hua Hin, Prachuap Khiri Khan 77110. We provide legal services in connection with family matters, including premarital counselling, divorce documentation, and contested divorce representation.
All legal work is carried out by or under the supervision of Thai Bar-registered lawyers. References to "Mali Legal", "we", "us", or "our" in these terms refer to Mali Legal and its staff.
2. Scope of These Terms
These terms govern your use of this website and, together with any engagement letter or service agreement issued to you, the delivery of legal services by Mali Legal. In the event of any conflict between these terms and a specific service agreement, the service agreement will take precedence for matters it covers.
These terms are governed by the laws of Thailand. Any dispute arising in connection with them shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the Thai courts.
3. Legal Advice and Attorney-Client Relationship
The information provided on this website is for general informational purposes only and does not constitute legal advice. No attorney-client relationship is formed by your use of this website or by submitting an enquiry through any contact form.
An attorney-client relationship is formed only when Mali Legal has confirmed in writing that it is acting for you in a matter, and when you have signed the relevant engagement documentation.
Legal outcomes depend on many factors specific to individual circumstances. Nothing we publish on this website should be understood as an indication of the likely result in any particular case.
4. Our Services
We currently offer the following services:
- Premarital Counsel Session — a structured conversation for couples preparing for marriage who wish to understand the legal framework applicable to their relationship and to consider whether a written premarital agreement is appropriate for their situation.
- Divorce Documentation Preparation — preparation of the documentation required for a divorce by mutual consent, including the consent agreement, financial arrangements, and any arrangements relating to children.
- Disputed Divorce Representation — representation in court proceedings where parties have not reached agreement, covering preparation, written submissions, hearings, and strategic advice throughout the matter.
Full descriptions of each service, including the scope of work included in each, are provided in the engagement documentation issued before any service commences.
5. Fees and Payment
Our fees for each service are set out on this website and confirmed in your engagement documentation. Fees are denominated in Thai Baht (฿) and are inclusive of VAT where applicable. Third-party costs — such as court filing fees and translation expenses — are not included in the quoted service fee and will be advised separately.
Payment terms are confirmed in your engagement letter. We typically require a deposit before work commences, with the balance payable at an agreed stage or upon completion of the relevant work.
Where a matter develops in a way that requires work outside the original scope, we will discuss the position with you and agree on any additional fee before proceeding.
6. Confidentiality
All information you share with us in connection with a legal matter is treated as strictly confidential and protected by attorney-client privilege. We will not disclose your information to any third party without your consent, except as required by law or as necessary to carry out the work you have engaged us to do.
Please note that communications submitted through this website before a formal engagement has been established are not covered by attorney-client privilege, though we handle them with discretion.
7. Conflicts of Interest
Before accepting any engagement, we conduct a conflicts check. If a conflict of interest arises during the course of your matter, we will notify you promptly and advise you of the options available. In some circumstances, a conflict may require us to cease acting for one or more parties.
8. Limitation of Liability
Our liability to you for any claim arising from the provision of legal services is limited to the amount of professional indemnity insurance we maintain, details of which are available on request.
We accept no liability for loss arising from your use of general information published on this website. This website is provided for informational purposes; it does not substitute for advice based on your specific circumstances.
9. Website Use
You may use this website for personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not reproduce, redistribute, or adapt the content of this website without our written permission.
We take care to keep the information on this website accurate, but we do not warrant that it is complete or current at all times. Legal requirements change, and you should seek specific advice rather than relying solely on what is published here.
10. Termination of Engagement
You may end an engagement at any time by giving us written notice. Fees will be due for work completed to the date of termination, and we will provide you with a clear account of work done and costs incurred.
We may also cease to act in circumstances permitted under Thai Bar regulations, including non-payment of fees, breakdown of the working relationship, or a conflict that cannot be resolved. We will give reasonable notice and assist with any necessary handover.
11. Complaints
We take any concern or complaint seriously and will address it promptly. If you are dissatisfied with any aspect of our service, please contact us directly in the first instance:
If we are unable to resolve your concern, you have the right to raise the matter with the Lawyers Council of Thailand.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when the terms were last revised. Continued use of this website after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. For ongoing engagements, any changes to the terms applicable to your matter will be communicated to you directly.
