About Mali Legal
A Practice Built on
Patient, Thoughtful Work
We are a small family law practice in Hua Hin. We do not rush, we do not overpromise, and we give each matter the attention it requires.

Our Story
Mali Legal was founded in Hua Hin out of a straightforward observation: many people facing family law matters — marriages, separations, or contested proceedings — found themselves dealing with offices that were either too large to give their case real attention, or too rushed to explain what was actually happening.
We started small, intentionally. A converted shop-house on Petchkasem Road, a small team, and a commitment to doing the work properly rather than quickly. That has not changed.
Our practice focuses on three areas: premarital legal sessions for couples preparing to marry, documentation preparation for those pursuing divorce by mutual consent, and representation for those in contested proceedings. We do not handle everything — we handle what we do well.
Over the years, the majority of our work has come through word of mouth — from clients who felt the process was handled with care and who felt informed at every stage. That is the standard we hold ourselves to.
Hua Hin has a significant international community, and we work regularly with clients involving one or more foreign nationals. We are familiar with the additional considerations that arise and can navigate them with the relevant local knowledge.
Our mission is simply this: to handle each matter with the attention and honesty it deserves, and to leave clients with documentation and outcomes they can rely on.
Careful Listening
We take the time to understand what the client actually needs before offering any direction.
Plain Communication
We explain what is happening and why — in language that makes sense, not legal shorthand.
Long-Term Thinking
We draft documents and give advice with an eye on what matters years from now, not just what passes today.
The Team
A small group of people who take their work seriously — and who understand that family matters require patience as much as expertise.
Praew Wattanapong
Senior Counsel
Fourteen years in family law with particular experience in disputed proceedings and cross-border marital matters involving foreign nationals in the Hua Hin area.
Nattawut Kasemsuk
Associate, Documentation
Specialises in divorce documentation preparation and premarital legal sessions. Known for meticulous drafting and clear explanations of complex financial arrangements.
Arunee Thongpan
Client Relations & Administration
First point of contact for enquiries and the person who keeps the office running with warmth and precision. Speaks Thai, English, and conversational Mandarin.
Standards We Keep
The way we work is shaped by professional obligations and personal commitments — both matter equally here.
Thai Bar Association Member
All legal work is conducted by qualified attorneys registered with the Thai Bar Association and subject to its professional standards.
Strict Confidentiality
Client information is not shared, discussed outside the office, or used for any purpose other than the matter at hand. This is not a policy — it is how we practise.
Secure Document Handling
Physical files are stored securely on-site. Digital documents are handled through encrypted channels and are not retained beyond the period required by law.
Drafting Review Process
Every document goes through an internal review before it is presented to the client. A second set of eyes on the language reduces errors and improves clarity.
Responsive Communication
Enquiries are acknowledged within one working day. We keep clients informed when there are developments — not just when something is complete.
Ongoing Professional Development
Family law in Thailand continues to evolve. Our team participates in regular training and stays current with changes in statute, regulation, and court practice.
Family Law Counsel in Hua Hin
Mali Legal serves clients in Hua Hin and the wider Prachuap Khiri Khan area — a community that includes a growing number of international residents and couples whose circumstances cross more than one legal system. Family law in Thailand is governed primarily by the Civil and Commercial Code, and the way it applies to property, marriage, and divorce has a number of features that are worth understanding in advance.
For couples entering marriage, a premarital session provides an opportunity to understand the default legal framework and to consider whether any written arrangement would serve their particular circumstances. The decision is entirely theirs; the session simply puts the relevant information within reach.
For those reaching the end of a marriage, the documentation process is often the part that determines how well the agreed terms hold up over time. Careful drafting, attention to financial arrangements, and clarity about children's matters all reduce the likelihood of future disagreements over what was actually agreed.
For those in contested proceedings, having sound representation — and candid strategic advice as the case progresses — makes a material difference to how the matter develops and how much it ultimately costs.
